The bottom line is that there is less money around – promoters have less money, and punters are spending less – everyone’s a bit more risk averse. But gigs form the backbone of a lot of artists’, promoters and producers’ careers and income, so we need to find new models for financing tours, commissions and gigs. A few years ago a discussion around game-changing ideas might have focused on crowd funding, or artists doing gigs in people’s living rooms.
Joining the Dots wants to help people test new ideas – new relationships, deals or approaches – for making gigs, touring and commissioning more viable.
